Payroll/ Human Resources Clerk

Bluebonnet Motors is currently recruiting for a Payroll/ Human Resources Clerk. The Payroll/ Human Resources Clerk position entails providing guidance, support, and coordination in the consistent and effective application of policies, procedures, and practices of the Human Resources department. The main responsibility of the Payroll/ Human Resources Clerk is to process payroll and HR processes for Bluebonnet Motors and Bluebonnet Chrysler Dodge. The Payroll/ Human Resources Clerk works under the supervision of the Controllers for Bluebonnet Motors and Bluebonnet Chrysler Dodge.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze payroll data and reports for accuracy, and resolve discrepancies to ensure accurate posting to payroll records.
  • Follow-up on timesheet corrections and approval with department managers.
  • Calculate pay adjustments and key data into payroll system.
  • Prepare, process, and track wage garnishments and child support orders.
  • Compile reports as required by management and government agencies.
  • Oversee employee exemption certificates, direct deposit and other deductions to update payroll records.
  • Prepare and process electronic transmission of payroll data such as 401k, health insurance and garnishments.
  • Process and maintain records of employee leave status.
  • Maintain filing system for payroll and related records.
  • Assist in the coordination and interaction with federal, state and other agencies on issues pertaining to employee compensation or mandatory deductions.
  • Provide service to employees by answering questions, providing information, and assuring appropriate follow-through and/or resolution.
  • Reconcile accounting schedules from payroll to posting by identifying errors and ways to correct discrepancies.
  • Handle issues and inquiries and supply information to job applicants, employees, and department heads.
  • Interpret, assist and advise company employees about benefit administration and leave management, and HR procedures and policies within the specified guidelines.
  • Review internal training levels and advise department heads on progress.
  • Coordinate and assist with new employee/benefit orientation and meetings.
  • Carry out wellness program activities – health screenings, wellness challenges, employee communications, etc.
  • Assist in worker’s compensation program administration.
  • Review, interpret, analyze and prepare for approval a variety of data, information and reports, and make recommendations depending on findings.
  • Maintain, control and secure confidential and sensitive records such as personnel recruitment records, organizational changes and employee relations.
  • Prepare forms and reports, compose regular and special correspondence, arrange and coordinate meetings with management and staff, process and maintain confidential documents, and other duties as assigned by the HR manager.

  • Good professional appearance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
  • Able to deliver effective results, meet tight deadlines and targets.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related fields from an accredited institution.
  • Previous experience in Payroll/Human Resources preferred.
  • Previous experience in CDK (automotive accounting software) and Kronos (payroll/HR software) preferred.
