Summary:


A Body Shop Helper, under the leadership of a designated Manager or Team Leader, will support the process to satisfy new and current customer demands for new and used vehicles by providing the vehicles to dealers and customers that meet their demands. A Body Shop helper will 1) perform light body work

2) prep vehicles for paint

3) clean completed vehicles
 
 
Essential Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the Painters, prepare vehilces for painting.
  • Prepare the vehicle using protective materials to prevent overspray of bed liner spray and/or paint.
  • Inspect vehicles for damage and clean/prepare surface to meet preparation criteria.
  • Remove masking material, clean and inspect for any defects or imperfections.
  • Ensure that completed work meets quality standards.
  • Perform final setup inside spray booth.
  • Perform minor repairs as necessary to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Maintain and properly safeguard all shop painting/spraying tools and equipment.
  • Work safely.
  • Comply with all safety rules, particularly those dealing with workin in confined spaces or in service pits.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe storage room, mixing room, and work area.
  • Use shop equipment and tools safely.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment: breathing apparatus, clothing, footwear, gloves, masks, safety glasses, etc.
  • Dispose of paints, paint container, and any hazardous wastes properly
  • Report all accidents immediately.
  • Support cross-training efforts through periodically working in the body shop.
  • Actively participate in department and company-wide continuous improvement efforts.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with GST policies, TMS operating standards, and applicable federal and state laws.
